For Our Daughters
Stories of selkies, characters who wear their heart’s on the sleeves, complex relationships - these themes have long floated around my head and now come to rest in one collection of stories.
I’m currently hard at work on my debut book, For Our Daughters, short story collection exploring the intricate themes of loss, grief, loneliness, motherhood, familial and romantic relationships, and womanhood. My flawed female characters skilfully navigate these themes, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, and providing readers with a thought-provoking and captivating experience.
The landscape of For Our Daughters is deeply inspired by my upbringing in Edinburgh, my time living in a caravan on the coast of Loch Fyne, and my life now on the West Coast of Scotland. The culture, history and folklore of Scotland all play an integral role in the book’s setting, adding an extra layer of depth to the characters and their journeys.
